      <image:title>Astroscapes - Eagle and Omega</image:title>
<image:caption>During this years Perseid meteorshower I shot a photo that I've long wanted to take. A shot of the Eagle and Omega nebulae as an astroscape, taken with a 135mm lens. Unfortunately the shot as you see here is impossible to take at the location of the foreground as the only place you can setup is in the middle of a road. So I had to shoot the sky at another location that same night but everything is positioned correctly in the resulting image. So even if it is a composite, it's still a true representation of the view at this site. And would you believe it, I got lucky enough to snag a Perseid in one of the shots as well :)</image:caption>

      <image:title>Astroscapes - Watching the Sky Fall</image:title>
<image:caption>So this years Perseids Meteor shower was a bit of a disappointment, the weather was not playing nice and the only night I managed to get out was the night before the peak of the meteor shower. Unfortunately just as things seemed to kick off properly there was a think fog descending on the area which forced me to stop after just 2,5 hours of capture time. But it was nice to be out under the stars again after the bright nights of summer and the sky was lit up with gorgeous green airglow…</image:caption>

<image:caption>The lighthouse at Flasterbo on the southwesternmost tip of Sweden was built in 1796 but the location has had a light to warn sailors of the Falsterbo sandbanks since 1636 when a lever light was built very close to the lighthouse. Now the Lighthouse garden is a ringing site for the Falsterbo Bird Observatory</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Old Superstitions The ruins of the Rya old church in northern Scania, Sweden was built in the late 11th century or the early 12th century. It was in use until the the 19th century when a new church replaced it. It started to fall apart until eventually the Rya parrish decided to go to great length to preserve what was left of the church. It is still in use during the summer months for weddings and baptisms.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Astroscapes - When Sand is Fireworks</image:title>
<image:caption>The Perseids meteor shower came on its annual visit in mid-august and this is one of the shots I took this year. These 10 meteors was caught over little more than 80 minutes worth of 30s exposures before my lens fogged up due to heavy humidity. The Perseids meteor shower occurs when the Earth passes through the debris left by the comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle during its passage through the inner solar system. The debris from the comets tail is mostly made up of small grains of ice and sand. Most of the Perseids burn up in the earth’s atmosphere and rarely get closer than 80km of the earth’s surface.</image:caption>

<image:caption>As I was packing up after shooting the Perseids I set up one camera to catch the rising of Venus and her admiring companion the waning crescent Moon. Was a bit lucky with the foreground as it was still quite dark when i shot this but the morning mists had started to form and gave the scene the mood it deserved.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Taken in 2018 I stayed around a little as the moon rose out of the Baltic Sea to try and capture it together with the Milky Way… And now with the COVID-19 situation I got bored and had a look through my catalog of images that were yet to be edited and found this… The sky is one series of exposures and then I’ve taken shorter exposures of the moon just to ensure to get it nice and sharp. Foreground is focusstacked and then sky and foreground is blended together. All of the images are taken during a 17min window during the moonrise.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Astroscapes - Rocking the Stars</image:title>
<image:caption>Digging through the Lightroom archives I found this shot that I took back in the spring of 2016. Was a very cool night with very cool airtemps after a long period of relatively warm weather and lots and lots of Sea smoke or steam fog as it is also known. Sea smoke is formed when very cold air mixes with warm moist air that is just above the waters surface. And this night it looked like the ocean was boiling there was so much of it as can be seen in the image.</image:caption>

<image:caption>As I was scouting the location while waiting for the Milky Way to rise up out of the ocean I came upon this Hawthorn bush and thought that would be good in the foreground… And I totally forgot about the fact that I’d have to mask out all of those branches as I took the shots for the sky using a tracker… But I quite like the end result…</image:caption>

<image:caption>I love thunderstorms and photographing lightning… something I’ve not been able to do much this year despite very promising stormcells and what not that I’ve chased on a few occasions… But they’ve all been during the day with all the action hidden under very heavy rain or they have dissipated as soon as it was getting close to my chosen location… Very frustrating… So this is a shot from 2019, a much more prosperous year from the lightning photography viewpoint :)</image:caption>

<image:caption>The summer nights are usually very beautiful with the neverending twilight and then when you add the shimmering lights from the Noctilucent Clouds it is just simply breathtaking. Here I’ve captured its magnificence over the E6 Highway that stretches from Kirkenes in the northernmost parts of Norway down to Treleborg in southernmost parts of Sweden covering a distance of 3058km.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I’ve been wanting to take a lightning shot at this very location since I started taking photos. This little valley is just south of a small village called Glumslöv at it’s overlooking the Öresund straight between Denmark and Sweden and in the middle there is the Swedish island of Ven where the danish astronomer Tycho Brahe had his observatory in the 16th century. Unfortunately there are some street lights ruining the foreground a bit but my word did the storm provide some spectacular action this night. Just look how the clouds are torn to pieces by the winds feeding this stormcell. 2 very visible lightniong strikes in this single exposure but when observed closer there are a few more hidden in the rain.</image:caption>

I’ve long wanted to capture a lightning strike in its vicinity and this is as close I've gotten a strike so far… But I’ll keep trying for that “perfect” shot :-)</image:caption>

<image:caption>So I got bored with the endless string of cloudy nights and thought I'd try some remote photography using a telescope in Chile, So off to Telescope.Live I went and signed up for a try-out. Choose an object not available to me in the northern hemisphere - the Tarantula Nebula in the Large Magellanic Cloud. Not quite as fun as capturing the whole thing myself but still fun to tinker a bit on the computer :)</image:caption>
